Frances Berardino

Frances has a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Certificate in Sustainability Studies from the University of Calgary. She has grown up climbing around the rock pools and swimming in coastal communities in both New Zealand and Vancouver Island. Frances is passionate about environmental justice and protecting our coastlines for future generations. In her spare time, she loves writing environmental poetry and cooking.

Kristina Inrig
PRESIDENT & FOUNDER
Kristina Inrig, our President and Founder, holds a Master's degree in Philanthropy and Non-profit Leadership. She serves as the President and CEO of Sustainable Capacity Solutions, an organization dedicated to empowering small environmental non-profits to grow their capacity and broaden their influence. With expertise in the non-profit sector, Kristina has held prominent roles such as Executive Director of Sustainable Eastern Ontario and Tucker House Renewal Centre. She has also served as the National Director of the 'Greening Sacred Spaces' program at Faith and Common Good.

Aiswarya Sankar
CHAIR
Aiswarya Sankar is a Sustainability Professional, (M.S Env.Engg degree from University of Melbourne, Australia) with a total work experience of 10 years. She currently works as a Senior Associate Consultant at ERM CVS, Toronto, Canada. Having lived near the ocean almost all her life witnessing its beauty, the issue of marine pollution threatening aquatic and coastal habitats is what bought her to Sea Change Canada. Volunteering for environmental causes has been her way of giving back to the community.

Chantel graduated from Trent University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in International Development Studies and minoring in Environmental Studies. She is an outdoors enthusiast with a passion in environmental justice and conservation!

Ali Ahmed
TREASURER
Ali studied education and software engineering. He was previously co-founder and CEO of MwalimuPLUS, an edtech startup. In his free time, he enjoys engaging in his love for data aka analytics and the environment.

Michelle Massicard
SECRETARY
Michelle is the Manager of Contracts at CAE Inc., for the Defence & Security Canada and is a current council member at the World Commerce and Contracting Association (WorldCC). Being from the East Coast, Michelle sees the damage climate change is causing and is passionate about building a sustainable future.

Sonia Vincent
MEMBER
Sonia works as a researcher in a non-profit organization and is currently focusing on a community-based research project on the topic of accessibility. Her deep appreciation for the clean and safe bodies of water she enjoys while sailing and paddling led her to take on a board member role at Sea Change Canada.

Daniel Raab
SUSTAINABILITY AMBASSADOR
Daniel was based out of Tofino, British Columbia. His passion for ocean conservation strains from a life of Surfing and living within the Pacific Rim National Park reserve & Tla-o-Qui- Aht First Nation territory. Daniel was an Intern with Sea Change in 2022-2023 and Sea Change Canada’s 2023 Sustainability Ambassador.

Fiona Law
PAST CHAIR
Fiona is passionate about sustainability and the environment, and looks for collaborations to bring the two elements together in simple, yet lasting ways. From volunteering with environmental organizations, her most memorable project was towards restoring Atlantic Salmon populations back into Ontario waters. Currently, Fiona is a post-doc researcher who uses remote sensing to measure plant biodiversity. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking.

Sheena Parsons
PAST TREASURER
Sheena holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Ottawa. Since graduating, she has lived and worked across the country, including in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and the Northwest Territories. She has worked primarily for protected areas in support of wildlife conservation, species at risk recovery, and ecosystem management. Recently, her passion for marine ecology has led her back to British Columbia where she is studying coho salmon populations.

Jessica Schumacher
ECO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 2022 / 23
Jessica’s passions stem from earning a Bachelor of Arts Honours, Environmental Studies Degree. Which prepared her in becoming an informed thinker and skilled problem-solver who is able to contribute to the resolution of the environmental challenges critical to our future. Focusing on environmental issues, such as: resource conservation, environmental justice, urban sustainability, climate change, environmental policy, and ecosystem restoration. Jessica took her studies to new heights by going beyond the classroom and exploring issues in North America, Europe, and Asia. In her spare time you’ll find Jessica doing the things she loves most such as scuba diving, gardening, and baking sourdough.

Emily Filinska
SUSTAINABILITY INTERN
Emily Filinska is a graduate student from the Master's in Social and Ecological Sustainability at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Her thesis research focused on analyzing cetacean interactions with fishers and how these interactions impact the sustainability of small-scale fisheries. Her research involved analyzing cetacean bycatch from a social-ecological systems perspective. Emily has also completed her Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, majoring in Ecology at the University of Guelph. Her main drive in life has been to make a positive change on this planet, pursuing her passion for cetacean conservation.

Justin Chander
IMPACT INTERN
Justin has a Master's Degree in Urban Development at Ryerson University. He has previously completed an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Toronto Scarborough in Environmental Science and Human Geography. He is interested in Indigenous perspectives and transportation equity. He is also an Independent singer-songwriter. He uses music to convey a lot of difficult, internal feelings that most do not speak about.

Sophie Lamb
SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR
Sophie completed two undergraduate degrees at Carleton University, a BA in Environmental Studies and a BSc in Environmental Science with a Minor in Biology and Earth Sciences. She loves all things nature and outdoors! With a passion for advocacy, she completed a training course with the UN on Advocacy and Implementation of the SDGs. She currently volunteers with the Ottawa Riverkeepers, Earthub, Green Sacred Spaces as Board Vice Chair, and Sustainable Philanthropy as Board Secretary.

Having grown up along the coast of Vancouver, she has always had a passion for the ocean and the natural world around her. Graduating from McGill University with a degree in International Development, she is fascinated in how the environment shapes and is shaped by development processes.

Karli Zschogner is an organizer, a connector, and a storyteller. Graduating from the University of Ottawa in B.Soc.Sci. Honors in Conflict Studies and Human Rights and the University of King’s College for Journalism, she is deeply passionate about being an agent of change for sustainability in everyday living.
